Overview:
The Mustang to Dolpo Trek is an extraordinary adventure that takes you through two of Nepal’s most remote and culturally rich regions—the forbidden kingdom of Mustang and the mystical land of Dolpo. This trek offers a rare opportunity to explore the Bon and Tibetan Buddhist traditions, visit ancient monasteries and hidden caves, and traverse some of the highest and most challenging mountain passes in Nepal.
This trail connects the Annapurna Conservation Area (Kagbeni) to Shey Phoksundo National Park (Juphal), passing through a dramatic landscape of barren cliffs, high-altitude deserts, and pristine forests. Along the way, trekkers encounter centuries-old chortens, mane walls, fortresses, and nomadic settlements, offering a glimpse into the untouched Himalayan way of life.
The Upper Dolpo and Upper Mustang regions are both restricted areas, requiring special permits for entry. These remote valleys remain untouched by modernization, preserving their authentic traditions, unique dialects, and traditional lifestyles. The trek also takes you through the legendary Shey Phoksundo Lake, a turquoise gem surrounded by rugged cliffs, and through the historic Silk Route, which was once a major trade corridor between Nepal and Tibet.
